Less than five years since the club was formed at a kitchen table with the first six members, here we are on the Leconfield Estate by kind permission of our Patron, Lord Egremont, holding our first AV Novice Field Trial.
We were delighted to welcome Paul Rawlings and Justin Clarke as our judges; they have both been hugely supportive of our young club since it?s conception.
Terry Steadman our newly appointed Field Trial Secretary had gathered a most impressive entry of 36 to make up an excellent card of 16 many of whom had travelled some considerable distance.
The trial was held at Pheasant Copse, a massive area of woodland inside the estate wall comprising blocks of plantations offering excellent cover; low bramble, bracken, holly and white grass. There is so much wonderful ground in Pheasant Copse we could have spent three days there without retracing our steps. It is an area renowned for woodcock and a number were seen during the day providing a challenge for one or two of the younger dogs.
A warm welcome at the start of the day with a cuppa and hot breakfast roll for everyone set the scene which extended throughout the day. Thai butternut soup and hot sausage rolls were brought out to us all for a very welcome pit-stop lunch and then tea and cake warmed us again at the end of the day. A very big thank you to all our volunteers for all the wonderful hospitality.
Ali Packham of Muddy Paws spent the day with us and took some superb photos which can be viewed on her website: http://www.4muddypawsphotography.co.uk/

Our hostess Lady Egremont kindly presented the awards with the first place going to John Crawford's ESSB If only I knew of Eythrope - The very first name to be engraved on the Egremont Cup! Second place was awarded to John Pay's ESSD Kilglass Niall and the third place to Nick Cooke's cocker bitch Rowston Simone who also took away the Guns Choice Trophy kindly donated by Sporting Saint. Stewart Seward's ESSB Connaught Bella of Surefly took 4th place with a COM awarded to Graham Watkins ESSD Rosebay Freckle.
